From Tissues to Triumphs - Choosing Strength (and Sweat) Anyway
Well, friends, this week was supposed to be my big “Let’s‑Go‑Make‑Changes” launch - you know, the cue‑the‑music, fresh‑playlist, water‑bottle‑ready, “I’m unstoppable” moment. But life, as usual, had other plans.  Enter: one wicked cold from the depths of nowhere. 😷

I’d love to say I handled it gracefully, sipping tea and journaling about gratitude. In reality, I blew through half a box of tissues, re‑watched the same Netflix episode five times (because I kept dozing off), and waged war with my sinuses. Not quite the cinematic comeback I had in mind. 😂. But here’s the thing - being sick didn’t derail me. I’m officially retired from the excuse business This wasn’t defeat. It was strategy. Because starting a new fitness routine while you’re hacking up a lung? Yeah, that’s not the motivational poster any of us want. So I hit pause, gave my body its respect, and promised myself this setback was just a delay - not the end of the story.

And sure enough, once the fog lifted, progress came roaring back - literally. My scale must’ve felt sorry for me, because this week it dropped 4.7 pounds (8.2 total 🎉). But honestly, the numbers were just the bonus.   The real reward? Feeling amazing. Like “daily vitamin on steroids” kind of energy - and yes, I admit that’s a weird description, but if you know, you know. 😄. I’ve locked in a new rhythm that’s working. Balance & Burn powder in the morning, my capsules with my 10 a.m. meal, and fueling every two hours from 10 to 6. My body has adapted so well that by 9:15 it’s practically texting, “Excuse me … where’s breakfast?”  Between a lingering foot injury (my ongoing side quest 😅), finally shaking off that cold, and seeing actual results, it hit me: progress isn’t about how flawless your plan looks on paper - it’s about how flexible your attitude is when life gets messy.

And speaking of messy … let’s talk about this age.  You know that lovely phrase we all use as a hall pass for doing less?

“Oh, I don’t do that anymore at this age.”
“My knees won’t let me at this age.”
“Who has the energy for that at this age?”

Guilty 🙋‍♀️. I’ve said them all. But this week, a friend messaged me and said “I seriously want to roll my eyes ever time 'this age' comes out of my mouth.'" Oof. Ain't that the truth!  If we’re lucky, we get to be this age - so why not make that our reason for doing more, not less? I feel strong, pain‑free, well‑rested, and happier than I’ve been in years.
Inflammation? Buh Bye
Energy? Through the roof
Mood? Probably a little too sunny for some people 😉.

So now it’s time to match how I feel with how I move.  That meant one tough decision: sacrificing a little sleep for a little sweat.  Yes, I actually set my alarm for 4:45 a.m. 🤯 and dragged myself out of that warm, cozy bed by 5 (ish). There was no magical Rocky‑style moment — just a messy‑haired, bleary‑eyed woman muttering, “Who in the ever-loving HECK enjoys this crap?!” But you know what? I did it.  It wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t perfect. But it was something — and something is always better than nothing. Progress rarely looks glamorous. It usually looks like puffy eyes, bed‑head ponytails, and a victory sip of water while whispering “I showed up.”

Between that early‑morning workout and a new approach to time‑management (hello, time ledger!), I learned a crucial lesson this week:  You really do have time — you’re just using it in ways you didn’t notice.  Replacing 15 minutes of scrolling with 15 minutes of stretching suddenly unlocked an entire window of “I actually feel productive now.”  This week was messy, cold‑ridden, reflective, a little feisty … and pretty incredible. Because I realized success isn’t about flawless effort; it’s about consistent intention.

So, if your week threw you a curveball - a cold, a flat tire, a bad mood, or a late alarm - don’t call it starting over.  Call it re‑strategizing.  Because every detour still leads forward if you keep driving.  For me, it’s onward — with tissues, tension bands, a vibrating plate, and a 4:45 a.m. alarm that’s getting easier to hate a little less each day. 😉

Here’s to tiny steps, big attitudes, and learning to be proud of every imperfect attempt — especially on days you almost talked yourself out of it.
