Patience, Progress & the Myth of Instant Gratification
We live in a world of instant everything - Amazon Prime, DoorDash, click once and it’s at your door next day. But our bodies? Yeah, they didn’t get the memo. There’s no two‑day shipping on discipline.  You don’t get overnight abs by rubbing a genie’s lamp, and last time I checked, nobody has Amazon Primed a balanced metabolism

It doesn’t work that way.

When you want to learn a skill, you don’t take a magic pill - you put in the hours.  When you want your license at 16, you don’t waltz into the DMV and wave a wand - you study and earn it.  So why do we expect our bodies, our habits, and our minds to change without the same effort?

Here's the hard truth: everything that shows up in our bodies — good or bad — builds over time. Inflammation doesn’t magically appear after one pizza night, just like fatigue or extra pounds don’t sneak in after a single cookie. They’re earned (like interest — only less fun).

And just like it took time to get here, it’ll take time to change it.
That’s been my reality check this week.

After surviving last week’s Hot Mess Express 2026 Tour (complete with emotional pit stops and mood swings that could rival a soap opera 🙃), I’m actually feeling more like myself again. The train has officially left the station, and thank goodness — because my poor husband was one “wrong coffee creamer lid” away from filing for emotional hazard pay.  Ladies, I have to ask - is this the menopause remix nobody warned us about? Because I swear, if last week’s meltdown wasn’t hormone‑related, it deserves an Oscar.  The tears. The rage. The sudden urge to hug the dog and scold the laundry at the same time. 😂. So, I’m staying self‑aware and taking notes — if next month feels like the same roller coaster, then I know when to double down on self‑support (hormones may be wild, but we don’t have to wing it).  And because the universe loves balance, right as my emotions leveled out, I got a BOOM of good news this week - the scale finally moved in my favor!   Down a pound and I don’t even care that I forgot to measure (typical me). A win is a win.

So now I’m officially in "Game On" mode!

I made a plan — a real one — and I’ve got accountability on speed dial (this is your sign to get your people in place, too).

Here’s my new formula for consistency:
    • More Water: Apparently coffee doesn’t count (betrayal).
    • Veggies Before Meals: To avoid inhale‑mode at dinner.
    • Cut the Sweets: Not a saint, just off the cookie monster plan.
    • Hit My Calories: Because undereating confused my body into thinking we’re hibernating.
    • Stay Moving: Vibration plate + under‑desk pedal machine = tiny steps literally adding up.
    • Resistance Bands: Step 1: Find them. Step 2: Actually use them. 😂
I’m calling it structured flexibility — I still get to be imperfect, but this time there’s a plan.  Speaking of structure — let’s talk time (or the lie we tell ourselves about not having enough).  During one of my business calls, we were challenged to create a time ledger.  Sounds boring until you actually do it — because nothing humbles you like seeing where your hours go.  From “just five minutes on social media” to “how did Netflix auto‑play three episodes?” — those minutes add up fast.

So this week, I tracked it all and wow.  Turns out, I do have the time — it’s just been wearing a disguise called “distraction.”

And that’s the theme of the week: awareness.  Whether it’s time, food, mood, or energy, you can’t change what you won’t acknowledge.  I’m learning that patience and persistence really are the magic combo.  Not the shiny kind from a bottle or a trend - the slow and steady kind that builds trust with yourself.  The kind that takes you from “hot mess express” to “okay maybe I can do this.”

So if this week taught me anything, it’s this: you don’t need perfection, you need momentum.   The choices add up, the habits compound, the time is there — you just have to claim it.  Because this isn’t about quick fixes or overnight success. It’s about doing the work and laughing at yourself while you do it.

So cheers to progress, patience, and whatever version of you is showing up today — because she’s the reason you’re getting there. 💛
