Balance & Burn: My Real-Life Journey

An honest look at weight, hormones, healing, and starting again—naturally

This blog is my real-time journey with Young Living’s Balance & Burn System—no filters, no perfection, and no pretending. I’m sharing where I’ve been, where I am now, and what I’m learning along the way as I support my body through weight changes, menopause, and real life. If you’ve tried “everything” and still feel like your body isn’t cooperating, you’re not alone—and you’re in the right place.

Before the Products Arrive: Why I’m Here

I’ve struggled with my weight since I was eight years old.

That’s when the comments started—from kids at school, strangers, and yes, even a few family members (we’ll keep names out of it). When that happens early, it doesn’t just hurt—it sticks. It shapes how you see yourself and what you believe is possible for your life.

As the years went on, the weight increased, emotional stress followed, and eventually depression settled in. I tried everything: Weight Watchers, SlimFast, nutritionists, diets I can’t even remember—and yes, I even snuck Dexatrim from my mom because I was desperate. Some things worked temporarily, but nothing ever lasted.

By 2009, I had reached my breaking point and decided to pursue gastric bypass surgery. After months of appointments, evaluations, and required weight loss, I finally had surgery in January 2010. The weight came off quickly, and by the end of that year, I was at the lowest weight of my life. I also met my husband, got engaged in 2011, and married in 2012.

Then life shifted.

We tried to have children, and after three miscarriages, I had to accept that motherhood might not be part of my story. That grief changed me. In 2014, everything seemed to hit at once—I lost my job of 22 years, my brother passed away, my stepsons mother passed away, I started a new job, depression returned, and the weight slowly followed.

Today, I’m older, in menopause, and navigating a body that doesn’t respond the way it once did. Recently, my doctor suggested GLP-1 injections, and while I considered them, they also scared me.

Then Young Living released the Balance & Burn System—and I decided to pause everything else.

This system works with the body, supporting natural GLP-1 balance without synthetics. It felt like a safer, more aligned option for this season of my life.

I haven’t started yet—the products are on their way—but I wanted to share the “before.” This blog isn’t about quick fixes or perfection. It’s about real life, real bodies, and seeing what’s possible when we stop fighting ourselves and start supporting ourselves.

If any of this feels familiar, I’m glad you’re here. And if you want to follow along, I’d love for you to stay.
